The message revealing God the Father originated with Jesus Christ (John 1:18) and He had authority to rehearse or unfold who the Father is and what He is doing which is known as "the Work of God" (John 14:7,9). Central to our identity as Christians is "Doing the Work": “Then they said to [Christ], ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent’ “ (John 6:28-29). Christ continues in John 6 … [Read more...] about The Work of God

Benefits of Honoring Your Father & Mother
Honor, Legacy, and Godly Governance After my father’s death, I found myself reflecting on the lessons he tried to instill, the values he lived, and the influence he had on my life. At the same time, I couldn’t help but notice the many broken families around me. These reflections brought deep clarity to the commandment—“Honor your father and your mother.” This command is often interpreted narrowly as a call to respect, obedience, or caregiving. While those elements are certainly important, the … [Read more...] about Benefits of Honoring Your Father & Mother
From Concrete to Cloudy: How Gnosticism Reshaped the Christian Hope
The Puzzle of the Spiritual Kingdom "The Kingdom of God is in your heart." It's a common phrase in modern Christianity. For many, the Kingdom of God is something abstract, something internal, or something to be experienced only in a far-off, post-death heaven. But when you read the Bible with fresh eyes, especially the words of Jesus and the apostles, another picture emerges: a real, physical Kingdom—on Earth. So why the disconnect? The answer lies, in part, in the powerful influence of … [Read more...] about From Concrete to Cloudy: How Gnosticism Reshaped the Christian Hope
What Is the Kingdom of God?
What is the Kingdom of God? I don’t think we can overstate the importance of the answer to the question. There are so many theories out there about different systems of belief including different definitions of the Kingdom of God. We need to think about the end result of what those beliefs produce and about what the implications of their version of reality are. The idea of the Kingdom of God was clearly central to Christ’s ministry making it a fundamental premise of our hope, of our purpose, … [Read more...] about What Is the Kingdom of God?
Focus on the Goal
The weekly Sabbath is a representation of entering into the Kingdom of God. Its very interesting that God has made the high point of the week, the focus on His Kingdom. But why does God want us to be reminded of this so often and so strongly? An interesting experiment called the “invisible gorilla experiment” by Daniel Simmons and Christopher Chabris will help us understand why. It is very important for followers of Christ to capture it’s meaning. In the experiment there were … [Read more...] about Focus on the Goal
Training to Be Leaders
The early 1900’s was a heroic age of exploration. Limits were pushed on all fronts and among these was the British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition led by Ernest Shackleton. From 1914 to 1916, the expedition was to cross Antarctica. They had priorities and a sense of urgency. Shackleton chose his team of twenty-seven officers, scientists, and seamen carefully, not hiding the danger, nor the glory if successful. After the Endurance was destroyed by winter’s ice in the Weddell Sea, … [Read more...] about Training to Be Leaders
The Kingdom of God
The world has been successively ruled by kingdoms. From a biblical perspective we see this clearly outlined by Daniel as he explains to the Babylonian king the contents of the king’s dream. Daniel told Nebuchadnezzar, “For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory” (Daniel 2:37). There were to be three similar kingdoms to follow the Babylonian kingdom. The progress of the dream’s revelation ends with a future fifth kingdom – the Kingdom of God. “And in the days of … [Read more...] about The Kingdom of God
